Education – events, reading groups, workshop

We encourage people to learn more about the issues; come to films, talks, workshops, reading groups.  Observe how Asheville is changing due to climate shifts, weather changes, population growth, economic changes. How would you like to deal with the challenges?  What skills do you need to make changes?

We are happy to help get reading groups organized for folks who want to read one or the other of the two “founding books” of the Transition movement, both by Rob Hopkins: The Transition Handbook: From Oil Dependency to Local Resilience (2008) and The Transition Companion: Making Your Community More Resilient in Uncertain Times  (2011). Contact Chas Jansen at chas.jansen@mtsu.edu to discuss forming or joining a reading group, or to purchase a book at a discounted price.

We sponsor workshops and events designed to share skills that increase resiliency, from growing and putting up food, to working together in groups in peaceful, effective ways, to insulating your home in easy, affordable steps.

Our grounding in Permaculture principles offers a unique tool for looking at system change and development.

Check out our events and calendar pages, and we’ll meet you there!
