A NEW APPROACH TO WATER: For a Water-Sustainable Asheville
A NEW APPROACH TO WATER and A LINKINGWATERS TOUR are presentations that will be given by the Water Action Group to introduce our Transition Asheville/WaterLinks initiative for a Water-Sustainable Asheville. Even in drought, Asheville receives enough rain to measure the impacts of simple low-cost method s for infiltration and recharge - methods used in dry parts of the world for centuries. Coupled with our eco-friendly community and education programs already in place for retrofitting and gardening, we suggest plants, earthworks, and tanks as an approach to demonstrate water sustainability and attract eco-tourism.
Familiarity with the infiltration and recharge option offers protection of crops, gardens, and landscaping during drought conditions to maintain property values, plus new job opportunities, lower water costs, reduced waste, less strain on infrastructure, decreased energy costs, minimized flooding, improved water quality, and a protected watershed. Come see how simple this is!
